The heart and soul of any Internet Marketer is in their email list. If you have gone to the trouble to set up an opt-in email list on your website using a web form, you are half way there. Becoming successful with your own online home business. If you utilise your list to its full potential you have a great chance of earning online. If I had a pound for every time I had been asked, “How do you build a list?”.

These next points I shall try and describe helpful tips to build your list effectively.

1)Document Sites / Newsletters Everybody is constantly looking for the new thing, or an edge, so up to date information is essential. You should produce an informative and original Newsletter every month without fail. If you do this on a regular basis people will flood opt-in to your list or website.

2)Free E-Courses. An excellent way to encourage visitors to fill in your opt-in form is to offer a free e-course, which I basically a series of helpful tips and advice via email. You should create a series of emails of at least 6 which are queued up and sent via your auto responder with just a couple of days between each email. You can obviously in the last couple of emails you can subtly promote your product.

3)Ezine Articles. Compose original and informative articles and Submit them to Ezine and other article submission sites. Make sure you include your opt-in web-form in the resource box, if you’ve submitted a informative, original article you will no doubt have new people opt-in.

4)Free E-Books. Similar to an e-course, giving away an e-book in exchange for someone opting in is an excellent way to develop your email list. Don’t be frightened by this, it doesn’t have to be a 500 page epic. With a little research you can write one yourself or there are ways around it. If you are not confident writing it yourself you can use a ghost writing service. The most important thig is again that it is original, helpful and informative. You must ensure you include links to your site, affiliate links, and products.

5)Free Membership Site An excellent method of obtaining visitors email address and contact details is to set up a free membership site. Where people must join in order to receive the free useful tips and advice.

6)Squeeze Page or Landing Page This is where you have page setup with a unbelievable free offer on, and to receive it all you have to do is fill in your name and email address. You can then personalize the follow up details as you have the persons first name. If you want to take it further you can ask for more details i.e. phone number, or address for other marketing purposes.

7)Pop Up Windows Offers. This is where windows pop up when you enter or are about to leave a site. You can use very encouraging messages or one off offers here to sign people up to your list here.

8) Viral Marketing. This is where you give away something for free that has some considerable value to your prospects and most likely they would want to share with their friends and family. Its usually a book, a game or a helpful video. You must ensure whatever it maybe that you have links back to your website, affiliate links or products and services.

9)Free Give-aways. This is relatively new and works extremely well for list building – The Big Internet Give-aways. There are all kinds of things you can find and give away for free online, just Google The Big Internet Give-aways. The only problem is freebie seeking surfers aren’t the best to have in your list, its persuading them to part with their cash.

10)Sign up bonuses. Very easy and effective offer people a bonus if they sign up for your opt-in or newsletter, i.e. “25% Discount on a certain product” or an e-books or specialist unique report that will be of interest to them and in your Niche.

While designing your new home business website, you cannot afford to make room for any flaws that might be taken seriously by the users. There is, for sure, not a lack of websites which inadvertently contain serious mistakes, and worse still people fail to attribute poor performance of the site to such flaws.

When you are setting your website up originally you must ensure that you avoid any flaws, you may feel are very minor but visitors consider to be serious.

Unfortunately there are an awful lot of websites out there that contain serious mistakes.If you want to earn online this is critical. Worse still the authors do not realise this is the cause of there websites poor performance. The fact is these possible minor or indeed major flaws will be a major influence to your websites Google ranking and the longevity and overall success of your site.

The following is a condensed article on some of the dangers that might somehow escape your attention or on the flip side you thought it was not actually worthy of your consideration. So beware and pay attention and please make notes, read a few times and digest thoroughly these seemingly inconsequential aspects of your website may very well scare your hard earned visitors away and in the end spoil your business reputation ultimately beyond redemption.

1. The No. 1 Rule – Do not publish your new Online Business website until it is ready. To publish the sign “Under Construction” is a red light to every visitor to say hey I’m a raw novice who is struggling. Moreover if you are brand new the low number may actually distract the visitors and if you have a high visitor number, people tend not to believe it. So to begin with I would advise using Google Analytics, then only you can see the figures and it is free.

4. You require copyright declarations. Absolutely everything you create and write on your website warrants copyright declarations. So you should incorporate copyrights on each and every page or post on your site. Whatever plug-in you use should have a date and timed feature. This will protect you against plagiarisers and be your back up for Ezine and article publications.

5. Try to avoid the use of passive verbs. It is much better method to avoid passive verbs and try to user active verbs wherever possible, a passive verb is normally preceded by a form of the verb “is” and signifies that something is being done to the subject, instead of actually performing the act for example:-

The online job is being completed by Mark = passive

Mark is completing the online job =active

The sound was heard by several men = passive

Many men heard the sound = active

It is much more professional the more you avoid passive verbs. Try and use active verbs wherever possible as this type of verb lends itself to activism and energy and therefore promotes your site more.

6. Try not to write very long, boring and cumbersome sentencesWithout realising it reading long, boring sentences becomes subconsciously and consciously tedious. Avoid long cumbersome sentences at all costs. Try and be concise, lucid and informative.

7. Pages – Need to be informative but compact and concise – Not to long If overall general internet behavior is anything to go by you must keep your pages compact and concise. If you have a large amount of information to get across you are well advised to break it down if you want to be successful with your online business. Use well explained and well make sure your pages and website are well navigated.

8. Make sure you have a section that “call for visitors action”By this we mean you must arrange to have an opt-in web-form, and or a comment box. Basically request your visitors to do something next – sign up for free e-book or newsletter, or possibly order now.

9. Try and highlight any benefits of services or products as much as possibleIts pleasure v pain or lack of pain. Customers buy to avoid pain or to get pleasure in some way. I feel its imperative at the outset that you have in mind whatever type of online business, product or service you have the ability to expand into other fields. Its great to have a niche but on the other hand you don’t want to have all your eggs in one basket. Your aim should be customers who originally invest in your product or service will then have plenty of confidence in you as a brand go on with confidence to purchase a series of products or services. You will have proven you can deliver a quality product on time and it actually does what you have said it will do, consequently you have sowed the seed. Your first product is the seed. The seed is crucial to your success and longevity.

What you have to remember you are building your empire from scratch. Your Internet Marketing Empire, you are actually creating your own virtual kingdom. You can think of it almost like a book or a film and your seed is the star. The film starts with your tiny, little seed being born in to fertile soil and one by one the roots start to form and take a hold with your eager original customers. So in effect you need to think long and hard about your first product to sell. Not only that you then need to think about chapter 2,3, and 4 or seedling, vegetative, flowering, budding etc. Maybe until your thinking forest! For example I run a business which educates people on how to start your own business or make money online. My seed is an e-book on “Getting Started in How to Start Your Own Online Business”, my seedling would then be, “Building Your Own Website”, my vegetative would be, “Generating Traffic To Your Website”, flowering would then be, “Monetizing Your Traffic” and finally budding would be, “Growing you business”. Obviously we are building a relationship all the time with your customers and because of the close link relationship of the subjects of the products the customers will almost feel obliged to buy the next in the series. Hopefully through word of mouth, blogs, good experiences, recommendations, forums etc other new customers would then buy the seed and the process starts again, and remember the process starts all the time but it never ends.

The other crucial point to make is, and we use this as a later chapter, create an email list. Whenever people buy or have any communication you should be adding them to your list. You should have an opt in form on your website. The reason for this is whenever you have a new “Chapter” or Newsletter you can inform all of your readily available contacts very quickly and instigate some immediate sales. At the end of the day it is a numbers game, so the more people you have involved or on your list the more chance of success.

You should have the mindset from the start that you want your tiny little seed to grow into something massive. Think forest or Amazon Jungle.

Why should I go into internet marketing or why should I set up my own home online business? There must be something easier or more interesting out there or is there……

What if I did x?, What if I chose y?, What if I promote z?. These questions comes at us each and every day. What if I happen to say, What if I happened to do that or what if I didn’t do something. It comes down to making decisions. A friend of mine Gary Black once said to me the hardest thing you will ever have t do is make a decision. Everyone has decisions to make every day of their lives. We all make good ones and bad ones. That is life. It is when you take time to look back on your life you think of some really good decisions that you made, decisions that have in effect altered the course of your life and of the people closest to you. On the flip side you also remember some really bad decisions that have then affected you in a bad or negative way.

Life is never stationary, it’s always moving and opportunities come and then go. Doors will always open and you have to decide is it worth stepping through and seizing the opportunity or not. You need to recognize when you are standing in front of the open door of opportunity, no doubt you will find the question always arises “What if” do I or don’t I. You need to make a decision, and normally quickly. How do we make these all important decisions? This generally depends on your background, life, education, personality, experiences and advice from others. In effect everyone is different and its these type of decisions that make us what we are today.

You don’t know me and of course I do not know you, but I would like to give you some great advice. Suppose I were to say to you, I know something that could change your life and people closest to you forever for the better. Do you think you would be interested? Suppose I said I know someone that is now showing other people how to obtain something like property or something valuable for free. Then suppose, you could also be able to learn how to build on your free but valuable “land” a 5 star hotel. You would then be taught how to market your “hotel” & in turn collect the rent from your guests that pay to stay. Do you think you would be at all interested in this?

Your probably thinking what the hell am I talking about? Well, it is actually called virtual real estate. It is your own space or property on the World Wide Web or Internet. If you own a space here it can quite quickly become very valuable property indeed. Are you with me now? Has the penny dropped?
